Job Details
We are seeking a hands-on Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong blend of public accounting and corporate accounting experience who is eager to build, optimize, and lead. You will play a critical role in establishing financial infrastructure, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insights to support the company’s growth.
This is a “roll your sleeves up” position—perfect for someone who is both strategic and detail-oriented, and excited to build processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and scalability Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare the company for external audits; serve as the primary point of contact for auditors Oversee tax compliance and preparation, coordinating with external advisors as needed Develop and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP Partner cross-functionally to support business initiatives and improve financial processes Present financial results, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership, board members, and other stakeholders (both financial and non-financial audiences) Support strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred) 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and in-house corporate experience Experience in fintech, financial services, or a high-growth startup environment is highly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes Proven ability to build and scale accounting processes in a dynamic environment Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse audiences Highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically
