Job Description

Hands-on Maintenance Supervisor responsible for overseeing daily corrective and preventative maintenance for production equipment—including blending, pre-weigh, filling, packaging, and HVAC—while ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment. Supervises Maintenance Technicians across two shifts, manages scheduling around production needs, and upholds all maintenance standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain maintenance SOPs and standards.

  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to support production and minimize downtime.

  • Monitor department performance and ensure timely completion of PM/CM tasks.

  • Maintain equipment databases, manage parts/tool purchasing, and produce accurate reports.

  • Ensure maintenance areas meet safety, cleanliness, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify training needs, coach technicians, and support skill development.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, productivity, and safety goals.

  • Communicate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely service.

  • Resolve maintenance issues quickly using available staff and resources.

  • Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts as needed; act as a hands-on supervisor.

  • Promote strong employee relations, maintain open communication, and administer discipline fairly

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with related experience.

  • Strong electrical/mechanical skills; ability to read schematics and mechanical breakdowns.

  • 3+ years of maintenance supervision (food/supplement environment preferred) and 3–5 years as a maintenance technician.

  • CMMS experience.

  • Strong cost management, change management, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.

  • Proven leadership, coaching, and staff-development ability.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to analyze technical data, prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Experience with scheduling, staffing, training, and basic OSHA, HACCP, and cGMP requirements.

  • Ability to work weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of maintenance supervision in a food or supplement environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or related field.

  • Experience in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

  • Lean/Six Sigma or project management experience.

  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and controls; Redzone experience a plus.
