TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a building automation organization seeking a Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of automation projects. This role combines technical building automation knowledge with strong project execution, financial oversight, and customer management responsibilities.
Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for delivering building automation projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring performance across schedule, cost, scope, and quality dimensions. This role requires hands-on control systems understanding, strong financial acumen, and the ability to coordinate engineering teams, subcontractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Manage full project lifecycle from initiation through closeout, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed Microsoft Project schedules with dependencies, milestones, and deliverables
Lead and mentor engineering teams, providing technical oversight, direction, and quality assurance
Monitor project financial performance including margin tracking, forecasting, cost control, and cash flow management
Draft, track, and manage change orders, ensuring accurate scope control and documentation
Oversee procurement activities and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors
Serve as primary customer interface for commercial and technical coordination
Lead internal and external project meetings, ensuring alignment across stakeholders
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks across schedule, cost, and execution
Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality plans, and internal processes
Support development of internal PM tools and quality management system improvements
Negotiate project terms, conditions, and scope adjustments as required
Requirements
3–5 years of experience in automation project management or technical leadership roles
Strong understanding of project financial management, forecasting, and margin control
Experience developing and executing technical project schedules
Background in building automation, controls, or related engineering environments
Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers or technical teams
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, including:
Understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and subcontractor coordination
Experience supporting onsite commissioning activities (preferred)
Strong communication and customer management skills
